18 Aug 2008 - ENERGY PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATES
LANDLORDS - You will need to provide an EPC to all prospective tenants the first time you let or re-let a property after 1st October 2008. TAKE ACTION NOW AND LET US ARRANGE YOUR EPC
From the 1st October 2008, when you let a property or have a change of tenant, a copy of an EPC must be available to prospective tenants on request. The Asset Rating of the property must also be displayed on any advertising particulars and be available prior to showing any prospective tenants your property.
The ENERGY PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATE (EPC) gives home owners, tenants and buyers information on the energy efficiency of the property. It also gives the building a standard energy and carbon emission efficiency grade from 'A' to 'G', where 'A' is the best and with the average to date being D/E.
Part of the EPC is a recommendation report which will list the potential rating that your home could achieve if you made changes and carried out the reported improvements. You can use this information to:
Cut fuel bills
Improve energy performance in the home
Help cut carbon emissions
YOUR ENERGY PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATE LASTS FOR 10 YEARS
Failure to supply an EPC could incur fines of up to £5000
